Easy Like MONDAY Morning

I don't know if anyone looks forward to REST as much as I do. Do you have a favorite time of the week that you know you are going to get that rest? Are you counting down the hours until Friday night? Excited to sleep in on Saturday? Ready for some family time on Sunday?

My favorite time of the week would have to be Monday morning. Hands down.

For most of you, Mondays are hard because it's back to the weekly grind. I used to be in that category! When I was an elementary school teacher, Mondays meant early mornings and scurrying to get everything ready for the day that I put off the week before. Oops.

But now I LOVE Monday mornings. It feels like a breath of fresh air. A chance to start the week off right. It is also our most consistent family time and that is what makes it a favorite in my book.

I always see people post photos in their pajamas or at a yummy brunch on Sundays with the lyrics "easy like Sunday morning". I could easily get jealous because Sundays are anything but easy for us. We have church services all day long and with Miles being the lead pastor, that means he is gone all. day. long. I am 100% confident in our calling to the church, but that doesn't mean I don't wish for those slow Sundays every once in awhile!

Which brings me back to why Mondays are so special to us. Miles takes the morning off after a busy Sunday to spend time with us. We don't do anything special, but to me, it's perfect. We stay in our pjs, play as a family, and sometimes, if we're lucky, Miles will make scrambled eggs. He makes the BEST scrambled eggs.

We may not be going on some crazy adventure, but it's something we can count on. No matter what the week may bring I know we have our Monday morning. It's our uninterrupted family time. It's our time to catch our breath from the previous week before we dive in head first again.

I'm not sure when you have your downtime. It may be Tuesday nights or Saturday mornings. It could be after church on Sundays. Whenever it is, set that time aside each week whether it be alone or with your family. Make that time a consistent moment you can count on. Don't just expect this time to happen at some point during the week, but PLAN for it to happen. If you don't plan for it, you'll probably miss it! It doesn't have to be for long, but getting that time to recharge is more important than you know. If you make it consistent it can be that time that you look forward to. That time that you know will just give you that little bit of rest and push to get you through the rest week. I know it does for me! I urge you to find that time this week and soak in it's goodness. You won't regret it!

Happy Monday, friends! May your week be bright!

*Funny side note: Just because you make it consistent doesn't mean you won't have bumps along the way! I had this post all queued up to post last Monday and I just couldn't press "publish". Our ENTIRE family was so sick and that Monday morning was ANYTHING but easy. I did not have it in me to fake it and tell the world about our great Monday. And ya know what? THAT'S OK! We had an off day (or ya know, week), but we're back to it today and I could not be more thrilled. My soul could not need it more!
