BE INTENTIONAL
Woooo it’s Friday! We made it to the weekend!
I’m not sure about you, but these last few weeks have been flying by! Life has been so busy and if I’m not careful I can get lost in the to-do lists (and laundry, always laundry) and miss out on what is going on around me. I can miss the way Anniston tilts her head when she is telling me something “important” and the way Elliott tracks me with those big sweet eyes as I walk around the room. I can find myself nodding at Miles as he tells me about his day while I’m really going over the million and one things I need to get done before bedtime in my head. I try to be intentional with my family, but sometimes busyness wins and I find myself thinking “where did the time go?”!
I know it speaks so much to me when those I love make an effort to reach out to me and I am trying my best to do the same. One thing I have been loving lately is writing little notes to my loved ones. If Miles is going on a trip I like to sneak a card in his suitcase and we both like to write letters to the girls for them to read when they are older.
I also have been getting back into the art of snail mail! Ya know, actually writing letters to friends and family! I know we can text and email to get quick responses, but there is something so intimate about receiving a handwritten note from someone. And who doesn't like getting something sweet in the mail?
So in all the craziness, I am using a nap time (and that is precious time, people!) to write letters to my people. I am writing to encourage someone. To tell someone they are special. To tell someone how much they mean to me. To thank someone. To reminisce with someone. The laundry and meal prep can wait. I don’t want to miss out on the time I have to love those around me WELL.
Maybe today you can write a letter to a relative. Maybe you can slide a note of encouragement under the door to your roommate. Maybe you can pause on the texting and send your bestie a silly card instead (my bff has done that a few times and it is always the BEST surprise!). Whatever and whomever it may be, just do it! Take the time to be intentional with someone today. I know it will make them feel good and BONUS you’ll feel pretty good too. :)
